Australia Spouse Visa Work Permit Requirements
For Student Visa Dependants (subclass 500):
- If the primary applicant is enrolled in a bachelor’s degree: spouse can work up to 48 hours per fortnight
- If the primary applicant is pursuing a master’s by research or PhD: spouse can work full-time
- Must provide proof of relationship and sufficient funds
- Children must be enrolled in school
For Skilled Worker Visa Dependants (subclass 482/186/189/190):
- Spouse can work full-time without any restrictions
- Access to Medicare (if primary applicant is eligible)
- No job offer or LMIA-equivalent needed
- Children can attend school as domestic students in most states

Australia Spouse Visa Eligibility
For Student Visa Dependants:
- Must be legally married or in a de facto relationship with the student
- The relationship must be genuine and ongoing
- The primary applicant must be enrolled in a CRICOS-registered course
- Must meet health and character requirements
- Sufficient funds to cover living expenses
For Skilled Worker Visa Dependants:
- Must be a spouse or de facto partner of the visa holder
- Relationship must be genuine and ongoing
- The main applicant must hold a valid skilled work visa (subclass 482, 186, 189, or 190)
- Must meet English language, health, and character requirements
- Can apply together (combined application) or later (subsequent entrant)
